Records through Monday

1. Palos Verdes (8-0)

Comment: With a new coach in Sean Lockhart, Sea Kings are clearly establishing themselves as the team to beat in the South Bay by advancing to the South Torrance Tournament final.

2. Mira Costa (5-1-3)

Comment: Even with its 1-0 loss to Palos Verdes, Mira Costa is the three-time defending Bay League champion and should never be counted out, especially with the talent there.

3. Chadwick (6-1-1)

Comment: Dolphins are rolling right along under new coach Luis Morales and would love nothing more than to beat Mira Costa in Saturday's third-place game in the South Tournament.

4. El Segundo (7-2)

Comment: With Natalie Barbosa burning up the back of the net, the Eagles are poised for another run at the Pioneer League title.

5. Redondo (3-2-2)

Comment: Don't sleep on the Sea Hawks: they have the weapons to make a run at the Bay League title too.

6. San Pedro (2-2)

Comment: The Marine League title is almost a given, so Pirates want to rack up some quality nonleague wins like Monday's victory over West Torrance.

7. West Torrance (4-1-1)

Comment: The Warriors have beaten up on Ocean League opponents thus far, but lost in first true test against San Pedro.

8. South Torrance (3-2-1)

Comment: Uncertainty hangs over the Spartans after losing starplayers Myla Senff and Lauren Hein, but Spartans played Palos Verdes and Mira Costa tight.

9. Peninsula (4-1-1)

Comment: After a season-opening hiccup against Torrance, the Panthers are showing they could make a deep playoff run.

10. Bishop Montgomery (0-4-1)

Comment: The defending CIF-SS Division IV finalists are the best team in the South Bay without a win. The Knights will get going when McKenzie McGoldrick starts to heat up.
